definition: multi-user, multi-device, multi-display, multi-purpose distributed graphical object manipulation environment
goals: framework for both cognitive HCI-like experiments (e.g., sort colored dots) and polished demo apps (e.g., solve the jigsaw puzzle), distributed whiteboards in ubicomp environments (back towards groupstorm) - there will be pressure to make this a useful ("the") iRoom sketching application (iWall already captures strokes). do the "moving stuff around the room" paper first and quickly before someone else does it. we want to show how easily we can do Put That There. "Put That There 2003" as the title?
foundations: GroupStorm library, Andy's GroupBoard (to provide sketching), iWall prototype (Ya'ir)
collaborations: iWall should demonstrate the value of the iStuff architecture in that it can be completely driven through iStuff (work with Tico, iStuff and PatchPanel -- worked well with adding iButtons already, but look at Anoto pen input etc.). Photo sorting application (Karen, Tom).
Make a logo "iStuff Outside" with sound effect and an iWall logo (Jeph) after Jan gets him Photoshop
publication opportunities: interact, canadian graphics interface conference (graphicsinterface.org, by nov 22), moving taxonomy journal paper

logging (and conflicts with performance)
synchronization, and robustness vs. simplicity (multiple copies of pix etc.)
currently we have the following input modalities: local mouse, local keyboard, mouse-driven eheap input, wand-driven eheap input. we ultimately need to be able to dynamically add input devices.
the current iWall demo can be launched reliably by doing the following: launch p:\iwall-new\run{1|2|3}.bat on the 3 SmartBoards (boardconfig.jph uses same format as PointRight)
next steps: meetings fri 2:15-3:45, jan: get photoshop, brian/jeph/robert: meet early next week, brian: will collect some refs and report to terry
